1 Company Over View

Global Insurance Company (GIC) was established in 1997 G.C by 23 founding members at an initial paid up capital of 3.75 million Ethiopian Birr in a small office in the old airport area and one contact office in Arada Sub City.

In June 2018 GIC had paid up capital of 105,240,500 Million Ethiopian Birr from 173 shareholders. It is now operating in 17 branch and 1 contact offices situated in different parts of the country in and outside of Addis Ababa..

The new 8 story GIC Head Office Building at area known as Somali Tera has now been completed at a cost of 20 million Ethiopian Birr from own fund and has started operation as of October 2008.

 2 Organizational Structure

The General Assembly of the shareholders is the supreme body that appoints Board of Directors.

 

The overall policy of the Company is framed by the Board of Directors consisting of renowned entrepreneurs and professionals from various economic sectors.

 

The day to day operational activities of the company are managed by highly professional and well-experienced management team that could spearhead long-term business strategies and make a difference in the insurance industry.

GIC Insurance Company S. Co. is uniquely staffed with young and energetic employees equipped with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and interpersonal skill that creates customer’s delight.

The company which started its business undertaking with less than 25 employees has now 165 employees.

4 THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Composed of the general membership, the General Assembly is the highest body of the Ethiopian Cotton Producers Exporters and Ginners Association (ECPGEA).

5 The Executive Committee

A seven member Committee elected by the General assembly for a two year period, the Executive Committee sets policies, approves the programme and budget of the Secretariat, and appoints the General Manager of the Association .

6 The Chairman

Elected by the General Assembly for a period of two years the chairman is an honorary part time appointment. The chairman is the head of the executive committee and chairs all executive committee meetings and the annual General Assembly.

 7 The General Manager

Appointed by the executive committee, the General Manager runs the day to day activities of the Office of the Association
